BPA FREE

Would you believe that 93% of Americans have “Plastic” in their blood and Urine? How about if I told you that 42% of the rivers tested in America turned up positive for Bisphenol-A or BPA a man made epoxy resin used in the production of most all consumer plastic goods sold in America. These goods include things we use on a daily basis; money, water, food, clothes, toothbrushes, DVD & CD’s, eyeglasses and food containers. The BPA Chemical leaches out of these products and into your system. The worst of it comes from microwaved foods and heated beverages like baby formula. Let’s take a look at what our government regulatory agencies have to say about Bisphenol-A and its effects on both our environment and our bodies.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a list of over 400 known chemicals that cause neurotoxic effect on the brain. The effect is in the brains ability to grow and develop properly. Bisphenol-A is one of the chemicals on this list; EPA Building a Database of Developmental Neurotoxicants

After becoming aware of the disclosures made by the EPA lets go over to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where we will learn how BPA affects our bodies and the brains of laboratory animals

With 6 billion pounds of BPA being produced each year it is no wonder why it is in 93% of people tested. Money is definitely a factor in the decisions of governments to ban or limit the import/export of Bisphenol-A. For instance here you can see the United States government telling France that they cannot ban BPA because it will hurt U.S. exports.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Service (HHS) Bishenol-A  Information for parents webpage warns about consuming BPA and to avoid heating baby formulas and baby bottles in the microwave.

The BBC News Europe reported on November 25th 2010 that the EU agrees with Sweden and decided to commission a ban on baby bottles containing BPA:  On the other hand the U.S. Food & Drug Administration merely warns us of the dangers and risks of consuming too much bisphenol-a. Then we find the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) article called; Since You Asked Bisphenol-A. This is where we discover the ugly truth that BPA is in 93% of all tested Americans.

If that isn’t enough to make your eyes bulge out of your head then have a gander at the Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s National Biomonitoring Program. This is where we find out that 42% of all U.S. Rivers tested (139) in 30 different state contain BPA.

When I was a kid I loved the library, after finding the National Library of Medicine’s Tox Town my childhood memories of going to the library have been all but destroyed. First we learn from the National Toxicology Program (NTP) that Bisphenol-A is an Endocrine disruptor that has effects on the brain, behavior, and prostate glands in fetuses, infants, and children. Then we find out that The U.S. Geological Survey is “confident” that adult exposure to BPA affects the male reproductive tract, and that long-lasting effects in response to developmental exposure to BPA occur in the brain, male reproductive system, and metabolic processes.

I understand this information is shocking and personally all I can do is laugh at it. Please know that every time you hear me chuckle on the inside I am screaming at the top of my lungs with angst at what “THEY” are doing to me and the people I love.
